HYDRONE: The UCL Mechanical Engineering entry into the Hydrogen class of the Shell Eco-Marathon Europe 2016.

UCL Hydrone team for Shell Eco-Marathon

The Shell Eco-marathon is a unique competition that challenges students around the world to design, build and drive the most energy-efficient car. With three annual events in Asia, Americas and Europe, student teams take to the track to see who goes further on the least amount of fuel.   After a year of preparation, bright young engineers worldwide have just a few days to battle it out in urban circuits, driving self-built cars for supreme energy efficiency.  The Shell Eco-Marathon ran from March to July 2016 in three countries.

The HYDRONE AB1 is a hydrogen fuel cell-powered prototype contender, featuring innovative design and intelligent control.

This ultra-efficient hydrogen-powered vehicle was designed and built by the UCL students for the London race.

DTE was instrumental in providing CATIA and other CAD solutions for the UCL team and looks forward to another great Eco-Marathon in 2017.
