As many companies and suppliers face up to the business requirement of gaining a workable knowledge of CATIA V6, DTE has completed a series of internal training courses and accrued a number of Dassault Systèmes accreditations to ensure any customer transition from CATIA V5 to V6 is seamless.

Bob Lynn, service team leader at DTE; said:

“What many people within the industry won’t yet fully understand is that becoming V6 ready will have more of an impact on systems infrastructure than at the application level. We felt that in light of the impending migrations, it was imperative that we fine tuned our understanding of the technical interdependencies of a V6 environment, especially in relation to software and hardware requirements.”

One of the major concerns voiced by CATIA users is what are the day-to-day operational implications of V5 and V6 co-existing. This is why DTE has conducted an extensive internal training programme for its systems and applications engineers to ensure that any migrations it undertakes are painless and have minimal business impact.

Lynn concluded:

“For some supplier programmes V6 will soon be a mandated requirement. Therefore, it is necessary for us to offer a service that not only covers expertise at the application level but also provides insight into back-end requirements that many in-house IT departments might struggle to cope with.”
