12 October 2017 ZA Press Release:
The exhibition will feature unique dog kennels designed and built by architects, artists, and designers from around the world and is a collaboration with the US-based Outdoor Arts Foundation who support community-based creative engagement.
Zaha Hadid’s entry is ‘Cloud’ – a cocoon-like kennel elevated slightly above ground to protect dogs from cold floor surfaces. Constructed in CNC milled plywood using Zaha Hadid Architects’ experience in digital design and fabrication methods.
Over 80 kennels will go on display at iconic London venues in early 2018 until they are sold at a gala auction in May to raise money to benefit the thousands of animals Blue Cross helps annually. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the refurbishment of Blue Cross’ re-homing centre in Kimpton, UK, as well as furthering efforts of the Outdoor Arts Foundation promoting community art projects around the world.
Patrik Schumacher, principal of Zaha Hadid Architects said:
“Designed for the BowWow Haus exhibition, Cloud continues our ongoing commitment to support those doing great work in our community.”
Matt Cull, deputy director of fundraising said:
“Blue Cross couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming exhibition and we are delighted to have Zaha Hadid Architects on board.”
