Management Support
The building and configuration of a sophisticated CAD/CAM/CAE system is a complex task requiring considerable knowledge and expertise. Our installation and system management service provides this expertise. New installations are usually built and configured prior to delivery, ensuring minimum disruption during installation, while the service ensures your systems become operational in the shortest possible time. Equally as changes to operating systems, applications, hardware or configurations arise so we can be called upon to undertake these on your behalf.
Application support services
Desktop Engineering offer an extensive set of contracts to cover:
Telephone support for all the applications and operating systems we supply, problem reporting and solving.
Automatic provision of new release and software updates, our support contracts generally operate on an annual basis. Information on how to obtain support can be found in the relevant area of this web site. Our Technology Transfer Programme provides on site consultancy on implementation and application use.
Hardware maintenance and OS support for many customers the systems we supply become a core part of their operation. It is therefore imperative that hardware failures are repaired quickly and effectively. Hardware support contracts provide you with the 'insurance policy' to quickly address system failures. The contracts available cover a range of response times, parts and labour as well as OS telephone support and upgrades.
Remote support
The use of ISDN lines and ISDN network routers and VPN is becoming a standard method of networking systems at different sites and companies together. We actively encourage our customers to implement such technology as it enables us to undertake support work remotely and thereby provide an even more effective level of service and support.
Shared responsibilities
Our services are designed to support you, our customer, in as wide a range of situations as possible. However we recognise that ownership of systems and applications rests with you. We actively encourage you to recognise and take on the responsibilities (such as, undertaking backup's, managing system security and data, documenting procedures) that ownership entails and provide training courses to teach the necessary management skills. It is through the effective sharing of support tasks that you will gain the most from your system.
