CATIA V5

V5 Foundation - 4 days

This course provides trainees who are new to CATIA V5 with a thorough grounding in using this software. The course deals with the interface and a complete range of solid modelling functions (thereby obviating the need for a specific solid training course). Drafting is covered towards the end of the course, thereby enabling trainees to return to the workplace with a sufficiently rounded knowledge to start using CATIA within their workplace.

Skills: Introduction to the sketcher, and solid modelling using feature based methodology. CATPart manipulation and editing. Drawing layout, manipulation of views, hidden line removal, sectioning, detailing, annotation and crosshatching. Introduction to the Assembly Design Workbench.
Course meets all the needs for Airbus Certification (Foundation).

Pre-requisites: None

V5 Foundation Plus (Basic Surfacing & Assembly Design) - 3 days

This course covers the creation of surface model geometry, for use in styling and similar applications, mainly within the Generative Shape Design Workbench. The first day looks at the basics of surfaces, their creation and manipulation, which is extended on the second half-day to include more complex surfacing functionality such as filleting, lofting, evaluation and analysis. The assembly section of this course covers the use of CATIA V5’s Assembly workbench, also some features from the Digital Mockup workbench, to provide trainees with a thorough understanding of creating and manipulating assembly model and digital mock ups of product designs.

Skills: Basic surface modelling, lofting, curve laying, extending/breaking surfaces, construction of faces and volume model, construction and modification of curves and patches, filleting, surface and curve evaluation. Basic assembly/DMU navigator interfaces, building and manipulating assemblies and digital mock ups, space analysis, clash detection, configurations, dimensional analysis, sectioning, detailing.

Pre-requisites: V5 Foundation course

V5 Advanced Surface Design - 3 days

This course covers the creation of surface model geometry, for use in styling and similar applications, mainly within the Generative Shape Design Workbench. The first day looks at the basics of surfaces, their creation and manipulation, which is extended on the second day to include more complex surfacing functionality such as filleting, lofting, evaluation and analysis. The third day covers all advanced topics including creation of laws.

Skills: Basic surface modelling, lofting, curve laying, extending/breaking surfaces, construction of faces and volume model, construction and modification of curves and patches, filleting, surface and curve evaluation. Advanced surfacing techniques and analysis.

Pre-requisites: V5 Foundation course

V5 Generative Shape Design Update - 0.5 day*

Upon completion of this course you will be able to use the new and enhanced functionalities of V5R19 Generative Shape Design workbench

Contents: Auto Fillets and enchancments in Edge Fillets and Blends

Pre-requisites: V5 Advanced Surface Design

V5 Advanced Assembly Design - 3 days

The assembly course covers the use of CATIA V5’s Assembly workbench, also some features from the Digital Mockup workbench, to provide trainees with a thorough understanding of creating and manipulating assembly model and digital mock ups of product designs.

Skills: Assembly/DMU navigator interfaces, building and manipulating assemblies and digital mock ups, space analysis, clash detection, configurations, dimensional analysis, sectioning, detailing.

Pre-requisites: V5 Foundation course

V5 Manufacturing (Standard) - 4 days

This course will allow the trainee to:

  • create a Manufacturing Program, simulate it and generate outputs.
  • define and manage prismatic (2,5 axis) operations, being aware of all capabilities in terms of strategies, parameters and transition paths.
  • define and manage NC programs dedicated to machining parts designed with Surface or Solid geometry using 3-Axis machining techniques.
  • use the PMPA to define and manage NC programs to machine parts designed in 3D Wireframe or Solid geometry with 2.5 Axis machining operations and how this product assists the NC programmer in making the link between Design and Manufacturing.

Pre-requisites: V5 Foundation

V5 Manufacturing (Advanced) - 2 days

This course will allow the trainee to:

  • define and manage NC programs to machine Surface or Solid geometry using 5-Axis machining techniques.
  • define:
    • Multi-Axis Flank Contouring operation
    • Multi-Axis Helix machining operation
    • Cavities Roughing operation

Pre-requisites: V5 Manufacturing (Standard)

V5 Interrogators - 2 days

This course will allow the trainee to interrogate and capture information from existing Parts, Drawings and Assemblies using CATIA V5. The course is not intended to teach the creation of CATIA parts, drawings and assemblies and is purely for the extraction of engineering information. However the course will include some simple part, drawing and assembly creation to aid understanding.

Pre-requisites: None

V5 Administration - 3 days

This course tells you how to install, customize and maintain a CATIA
V5 site.
