Modelling and assembly

Recognized throughout the industry for speed and the broadest set of direct interfaces, HyperMesh and MotionView provide an intuitive, consistent engineering environment independent of CAD and CAE solver deployments.

HyperMesh delivers unparalleled power and performance by allowing engineers to quickly mesh and assemble complex FEA models. Controlled auto-meshing, weld and connector automation tools, quality-index meshing, mid-plane surface extraction and surface loading all enable rapid development of high fidelity models for detailed analysis.

MotionView, is a general purpose pre- and post-processor and visualization tool for mechanical system simulation including industry leading capabilities for flexbodies. MotionView pre-processing provides analysts with an intuitive interface for PC and Unix environments and an efficient, neutral multi-body dynamics language that can export to several solvers including MotionSolve, ADAMS, DADS, SIMPACK, ABAQUS and NASTRAN.

Competitive pressures continue to force product improvement demands on engineering and design departments. Being able to structurally optimize a component for a desired performance outcome in the pre-design phase can mean more time for product innovation and shorter time to market. The HyperWorks framework integrates the power of OptiStruct, the leading structural analysis and optimization tool with HyperStudy, a powerful new Robust Design assessment module that virtually validates a design simulation long before it goes to manufacturing.


Robust Design and Optimisation

Altair Optistruct is a design tool based on the finite element method that generates optimal concept design proposals from supplied packaging information. Product designers and engineers define a weight target and constraint criteria such as maximum allowable deflection andstress, modal response, member sizing and method of manufacture. Through optimization methods, OptiStruct then draws up a structurally optimal and manufacturable design proposal based on your specifications. The result is an engineered product concept, based on your specific criteria, for design development.

Following design definition, Altair HyperStudy can be used to gain insight into the physics of the design, assess the design’s robustness and fully optimize the design for multi-disciplinary attributes. Both design-of-experiments (DOE) and stochastic optimization studies can be quickly performed with HyperStudy to understand design sensitivities and optimize design parameters for controlled or uncontrolled variations. HyperStudy has readily available interfaces to major solvers such as LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, MADYMO, PAMCRASH, OptiStruct, ADAMS, DADS, SIMPACK and MotionSolve.

HyperView produces quantum leaps in understanding through synchronized results visualization of analytical and test data.

Synchronize CAE animation, digital video and xy data and visualize simultaneously in a single window.
